Mempunyai dua orang anggota yaitu Jack White (vokal, gitar dan keyboard) dan Meg White (drum dan backing vokal), mereka membawakan aliran musik rock. Jack dan Meg adalah sepasang suami istri yang menikah pada tahun 1996.

Album

Selama hampir 13 tahun berkarya, The White Stripes telah merilis 6 album studio albums, 12 album live, 4 album video, 15 video musik, 1 EP dan 28 singles. Debut album The White Stripes yang dirilis pada tahun 1999 bertajuk The White Stripes, dimana album ini didedikasikan untuk musisi blues yang telah meninggal, Son House.

Album kedua The White Stripes berjudul De Stijl (2000). Album ini meraih sukses dengan mencapai nomor tiga puluh delapan di chart Album Independen Billboard pada tahun 2002. White Blood Cells (2001) adalah album ketiga The White Stripes, dimana berkat album ini nama The White Stripes menjadi populer. Tahun 2003, The White Stripes meluncurkan album ke empat yaitu Elephant. Album Elephant melejit melambungkan nama The White Stripes.

Para pecinta musik hampir semua memberikan pujian. Berkat album ini, The White Stripes mendapatkan nominasi untuk Album of the Year dan memenangkan kategori Album Musik Alternatif Terbaik di Grammy Awards pada tahun 2004. Album ini juga menduduki tangga nomor enam di Billboard AS dan menduduki peringkat teratas di tangga album Inggris.

Dua album The White Stripes lainnya yaitu Get Behind Me Satan dirilis pada tahun 2005 dan Icky Thump yang dirilis pada tahun 2007. Album Icky Thump meraih sukses menapaki chart nomor satu di UK Albums dan berada di nomor dua Billboard 200, serta mencetak angka penjualan yang sangat baik.

Berkat kesuksesan ini, The White Stripes disertifikasi emas di Amerika Serikat. Tak hanya itu, pada tahun 2008, album ini memenangkan Grammy Award untuk Album Musik Alternatif Terbaik.
